2009 – I See Dead People

There was a Bruce Willis thriller movie a few years back where a young boy (Cole)  “saw” dead people.  The premise was that the dead people were unable to leave this world because they had unfinished business. At one point, the Bruce Willis character, Malcom, had this conversation with Cole:

Cole Sear:  I see dead people.
Malcom Crowe:  In your dreams?
(Cole shakes his head no)
Malcom Crowe:  While you’re awake?
(Cole nods)
Malcom Crowe:  Dead people like, in graves? In coffins?
Cole Sear:  Walking around like regular people. They don’t see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don’t know they’re dead
Malcom Crowe:  How often do you see them?
Cole Sear:  All the time.  They’re everywhere.

******

Unfortunately, this is true of most Christians. They walk around like regular people.  They only see what they want to see.  They don’t know they’re dead. They’re everywhere.

Many Christians act just like unsaved people. When we use the word “unbeliever” it doesn’t just mean someone who hasn’t met Jesus and taken Him as their savior. An unbeliever is also anyone who does not believe God’s Word (Bible) and walk by what He says to do.

When we do not live our lives after God’s Word – when we accept the world’s* standards as the norm – we are dead. Jesus did deliver us but if we don’t make a choice to walk in that freedom, to renew our minds, we stay and act the same way we were before salvation.

Why don’t we act like we are alive in Christ? Because we put the world and its ideas and ways first, and are still walking in the precepts of death – walking like the world walks, talking like the world talks, acting like the world acts – and if anyone saw or talked to us, they would never know we were Christian.

We have to renew our minds in His Word to change our old way of thinking. Read your Bible daily, listen to and read good faith-based things. God won’t make us walk right, talk right and spit right – it is our decision. We choose – life or death.

Are you walking around like a dead person? Do you only see what you want to see? Are you dead to the things of God?

Ask God to show you what is really inside you – what is in your heart. When He points out an attitude or action that is not His way, repent then get into the Word and find out how He wants you to think and act.

Don’t walk like a dead person. Walk in life!

World – people who are not of the Kingdom of God â€” unsaved
Worldly – acting like someone who is not saved
Worldy actions can be as simple as judging, gossiping, and lying to as dangerous as murder, thievery, and adultery.

  1. That is very good. I need to remember and re-evaluate what I am doing and how I am acting. Am I worldly and if so I need to make corrections.
