You can pass through His open gates

Are you really thankful?

Most people say, “Yes!” because, as Christians, it’s expected of us. It would almost seem sacrilegious not to be thankful because God tells us to be thankful.

Plus we recently had a couple of holidays that require thankfulness. Tomorrow morning (or today), the New Year, comes the real test – are you still thankful?

Most of us “feel” thankful when we have enough to pay our bills, have some money left over for groceries and maybe a treat like eating out once in awhile.

As long as our needs are met, we’re thankful. One little change – a layoff, a sickness (with a $5000 insurance deductible) or a death, and everything can change in the blink of an eye. Thankfulness might go out the window.

At the other extreme, so many finagle to get bills paid, and are struggling month to month to get enough groceries, and eating out is a far-away fantasy. Yet they can be thankful because they draw breath, are healthy, know God loves them, and are happy to be alive.

Here’s the important truth: GOD LOVES YOU. The Holy Spirit loves you, guides and directs you, and will show you things to come (and so much more). Jesus loves you and died for you to have eternal life AND all your needs met, being out of debt, having plenty to put in savings, and to give to “every good work”.

Then there are the Angels who work for you. Even better, God has an amazing plan for your life, no matter your age. So everything contrary to those facts is temporal (temporary) and subject to change.

Be thankful on purpose, by choice not feelings. It is an act of faith. God’s got your back. You are already an overcomer – a winner – triumphant. You’ve already won even if it doesn’t look like it. Patience. Put your trust and faith in Him.

God will bring you up until your life matches His idea of what it is supposed to be like. That’s something to really be thankful for!

2024 is going to be your BEST year ever (if you keep your eyes on Him and off what the world is doing). Trust.
