Where’s The… Truth?

In in 1984 there were a few television commercials* asking the question, “Where’s the beef?” over a tiny burger on a big bun. Those commercials became a huge hit.

Now days it’s turning into the opposite question, “Where isn’t the beef? Over here! Come buy our fake meat burgers!” The news media is hyping fake meat like it’s giving away free shares in gold mines. You are led to believe wise and healthy people eschew real meat for plant-based burgers.

One registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN),** after eating a fake meat burger, stated that while delicious, “… you have to look at the ingredients and nutrition facts to find out exactly what you’re eating, because these meat substitutes aren’t as healthy as you would think.”

Others said, “If you look at the ingredients, they are super, highly processed foods.”***

The labels of the Beyond and Impossible burgers include a list of ingredients such as methylcellulose, soy leghemoglobin, and zinc gluconate.  Even spell check doesn’t know what those words are!

What was that saying? If you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it? Hokey but true. I’d say that if you don’t know what it is, don’t eat it! Don’t be a lazy, blind follower.

What does this have to do with God? I’m glad you asked. The point is to research things for yourself. Don’t just accept everything people say as if it’s a fact. Don’t believe everything you see or hear. Don’t be a lazy, blind follower.

In the world, that means researching what is REALLY in your food (or what isn’t). Find out what the “un-mentioned -in-public” list of added ingredients are. Find out if the people trying to sell you something are simply LYING.

In God’s world, you have to dig into your Bible and find a scriptural basis for what people, ministers and non- alike, say. Discover for yourself if they are simply LYING – and oh yes, some  will lie to you just because they don’t know the God’s Truth or their doctrine says so.

If a pastor pontificates from the pulpit that healing has passed away with the Apostles, you need to know there is NO scripture that states that. There is scripture, however, that proves healing is for us and simply because Jesus is the SAME, yesterday, today and forever and He went about healing.

The truth is that God and the Bible never change. When someone (no matter who it is) makes a statement about God to you, one that sounds too good OR not so good, ask them what scripture and verse they are quoting, If they can’t tell you find out for yourself.

To be wise in the things of God, ask yourself from now on: “Where’s the Truth?” What scripture and verse?

  1. Very good point. You really should be aware of what is in your food regardless of beef or bible. Always good to check for yourself.
