As the image above shows (Proverbs 18:21), our life or our death are in our mouths. Not just physical life and death but life and death of dreams, aspirations, or all things pertaining to this life.
God has a language He wants us to learn and speak. Unfortunately, the devil has one he wants us to speak, too.
God’s language is always positive and uplifting. It is never negative. It is never about loss. It is never about lack or not having enough. His language is life and life-giving. God is “over and above” all we can ask or think (Eph. 3:20
The devil’s language is quickly understood in one simple scripture: John 10:10 – the thief only comes to steal, kill and destroy. Anything negative, anything depressing, sad-inducing, anything with loss attached to it, anything bringing death – that is the devil’s language.
There is life in every Word of God; that is what we should speak. On the opposite end, there is death in the words of the devil, so we should never mediate on them or speak them.
What words of the devil could you possibly be speaking, you ask? Some of them are very sneaky because so-called experts have told us things have to be a certain way.
We have quoted these experts over the years instead of the Word of God. By quoting these so-called experts, we’ve produced a harvest of bad things in our lives – things that we are supposed to be redeemed from!
I will leave you with a few to give you an idea how much wrong words have sneaked into our lives and vocabulary, and dictated how we live. Remember, if you can’t find a scripture saying these things are true, you do not have to have it in your life. I’m sure you can add to this list if you just think about it from God’s point of view.
- I don’t have a college degree so I’ll never make much money.
(NO! The Bible says you have an unction, a special endowment, an anointing to function in this world to have “life and that more abundantly). - Well, you know what “they” say: ___________ (fill in the blank).
(If “they” are not speaking what God says, don’t take what “they” say as if it is gospel truth). - Well, the experts say it is flu season so I guess I’ll be getting the
flu any day now. (Jesus died for you to be delivered from EVERY sickness and disease). - When you’re over 35, you will gain an average of 10 pounds
a year because your metabolism slows down. (He renews your
youth and strength). - As you get older, your hair will get thinner. (He renews your
youth and strength). - As you get older, your skin loses its elasticity. (He renews your
youth and strength). - The Farmer’s Almanac says we are in for drought this year.
(You’re not going to find that one in the Bible!). - My grandmother had cancer, my mother had cancer, and I will
most likely have cancer. (Jesus died for you to be delivered
from EVERY sickness and disease). - No matter what I do, I can’t lose this weight. (Think about this
one for a bit. Are you not seeing the product of having what
you say? Change those words around.) - My child is heading into the terrible twos (or traumatic teens).
We confess this over our children long before they hit the age
of two or teens. (…the Bible says your children are blessed.
Anything else is a curse and not from God). - I’m allergic to ___________ (fill in the blank). (We are
redeemed from the curse of allergies). - I can’t do, have, eat ________ (fill in the blank).
(We. Are. Redeemed).

That is really good. I see why things didn’t go right. I was listening to the experts and they had no scripture and verse but I did it anyway. Not anymore.
