When Your Faith Level Drops

Romans 10:17  So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.  In other words, stay refueled to stay in faith.

I was recently in Kenneth Copeland’s Southwest Believer’s Convention. I got stuffed full of the Word. There were 5 speakers a day, M-Th, 4 Friday; 2 Saturday. 26 sessions with 12 prayer services before morning and night services.

I have watched numerous Word podcasts.

I have been catching up with Pastor Keith Moore’s Faith School (free foundational teaching to build up your faith) and Healing services (scroll down and put the topic in search and it will pull up services).

In other words, I was filling myself up with the Word of God. Really going into overflow.

A bit ago I found myself having trouble with grief trying to take over. I was mourning Leland to the point I was worthless. It was only a couple of weeks but I hadn’t had this much trouble since Leland skipped town and went to raise cattle in heaved.

At the same time I was wondering what the heck was wrong with me. I knew better than this. I knew grief was a spirit related to death. I knew it was NOT of God.

I was low on fuel, the Word of God. It affected every area of my life.

Can I just tell you that the massive overflow I built up in myself recently was eye-opening? As I refueled, I began to SEE.

I learned that you can get so desensitized to where you are in your walk of faith that you don’t even realize you are low on Word?  I should have recognized it because of my thoughts. I was constantly battling them. I didn’t recognize how low my fuel was until I began refueling.

Let this be a warning to you. No matter how much you KNOW you need daily feeding on the Word of God (daily scripture) – no matter how well you have done in the past – you have an enemy. His job is to enact John 10:10a…  A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. If one wile (trick) doesn’t work, he will try another. And another. And another.

You can only combat the devil the very same way Jesus did when the devil came after him in Matthew 4 – Jesus answered the devil’s temptations with the Word of God, “It is written (or “the Scriptures say”) and He would state what it said – then eventually told the devil to go away.*

So, of course, you HAVE to know what the scriptures say!

And that’s the toughest thing of all when you are in the middle of a trick of the devil and your Word level is so low you begin to be… worthless. Ineffective. Hindered.

AH – but once you refuel, you are back (and yes, it may take a massive overflow of Word). You are then capable of saying, “Shut up devil, IT IS WRITTEN…” and stop his trick cold. You are once again strong. Of course, I recommend not getting low on Word in the first place.

*James 4:7  (TPT)  So then, surrender to God. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he will turn and run away from you.

How do you stand up to (resist) him? Speak LIFE – speak scripture. Speak ‘IT IS WRITTEN” – and know what is written!

  1. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony (what we speak). When our testimony is in agreement with God’s word it is a double whammy… a win-win over the enemy.

*The joy of the Lord is my strength
*I shall run and not grow weary
    * I am encompassed with favor as a shield
    * He restores my soul
