Faith, Foolishness or Presumption, Humor

So often as Christians we think we know what real Faith is. We ASSUME and we all know what that means. Right? Well if not, don’t get offended but usually to assume means to make an ASS out of U and ME – assume. Get it?

Never base anything about God on assumptions. Get in the Bible and learn. Listen to faith-based teaching. Read faith-based books. Get into a faith-teaching church. Know what the Bible says Faith really is then don’t get into foolishness and presumption (a book I read eons ago).

A dangerous rain storm began to fall and local officials sent out an emergency warning that the riverbanks would soon overflow and flood the nearby homes. They ordered everyone in the town to evacuate immediately, no exceptions.

A Christian man heard the warning and decided to stay, saying to himself, “I will trust God and if I am in danger, then God will send a divine miracle to save me.” (Note, this is foolishness AND presumption.)

The next door neighbors came by his house and said, “We’re leaving right now! There is room for you in our car so please come with us!” The man declined, stating: “I have faith that God will save me.” They shook their heads and drove on.

As the man stood on his porch watching the water rise up the steps, a man in a canoe paddled by, saw him on the porch and called to him, “Hurry and come into my canoe, the waters are rising quickly!” But the man said, “No thanks, God will save me.”

The flood waters rose higher until water began pouring into his living room. The man quickly ran upstairs to the second floor. He leaned out the window, watching the flood water rise. A police motorboat came by and saw him at the window. “We will come up and rescue you!” they shouted. Again the man refused, waving them off and saying, “Use your time to save someone else! I have faith that God will save me!”

The flood waters rose higher and higher, and eventually, the man had to climb up to his rooftop.

A helicopter spotted him on his roof and a rope ladder dropped down to where the man was sitting. A rescue officer climbed down the ladder and shouted to the man, “Grab my hand and I will pull you up!”  The man still refused, shouting back. “No, thank you! God will save me!”

Shortly after the helicopter left, the waters broke up the house and the man was swept away.  He drowned.

When the man arrived in Heaven, he asked of God:  “I had faith in You. I drowned when I was believing you would save me! I told everyone you would save me. Why didn’t You come and save me?”

And God said, “Son, I sent you a warning.  I sent you a car.  I sent you a canoe.  I sent you a motorboat.  I sent you a helicopter.

“What more were you looking for?”
