The only thing standing in the way of your goals and dream is… YOU

Do you have a dream in your heart? A goal you’d like to reach? A vision of something that seems so impossible? Did you know that God has given you dreams, desires and visions so you can accomplish things for His Kingdom?

WRITE THEM DOWN! SPEAK THEM OUT!

Habakkuk 2:2 (LITV)  And Jehovah answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it on the tablets, that he who reads it may run.

Job 22:28 (NKJV)  You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.

The word “run” is a primitive root with one meaning being “bring hastily.”  Writing your vision down brings it more quickly into your life.  How do I know this? My magic refrigerator.

No, my refrigerator isn’t really magic by any means. Let me tell you the story. While this story is about things we needed, we have also applied this principle to things we want to do FOR God.

Several years ago, Leland and I had needs. We needed kitchen appliances, debt freedom, a new computer, a new bed, a new dining room table, and new floors – just all sorts of things. We’d talk about it. We’d talk about what we wanted. We talked about what type flooring we wanted. We talked about debt freedom.  We talked and talked and talked.

One day, we had heard a teaching about writing down your goals. First we tried writing them down and putting them in a 3-ring binder. The problem with that is we didn’t always remember to thumb through the binder to see what our goals were. That way was too complicated.

Finally, we jotted them down on a piece of paper then stuck it on the front of the refrigerator with a magnet. Every time we were at the fridge, we’d look at those goals and thank God for them. Before you knew it, things began to happen. Something on the list would become a reality!  Each time something manifested, we would mark it off the list. One day, the list was totally finished.

It didn’t happen overnight but before we posted it where we could see it and speak over it, it didn’t seem to be happening at all!  I believe it is because we saw our list – we put it before our eyes – that we more easily attached our faith to it and believed it would come to pass.

This is now something we always do. To this day, there is an on-going list kept on the fridge where we can see it. It isn’t that the refrigerator is magic – it is obeying God’s command to write things down (and speak them out). Something just seems to happen when you put your dreams and goals on paper and “decree or declare” them aloud.

Start making it a habit of writing down your goals, dreams and “visions” – pick up an inexpensive notebook from the Dollar Store and begin keeping a vision book. Put lists on bathroom mirrors. Make a list and post in on your fridge. Find pictures you can put on your computer and create a screensaver. Sit and watch them go by, believing God will bring them to pass. Whatever works for you – just make sure you write it down!

If you can imagine it, envision it, dream it up, God is giving you an opportunity to believe Him for big things, impossible things, only He can accomplish through you!
