Prosperity & Pleasures #3

words blah

Another thing we need to know in order to walk in the prosperity and pleasures mentioned in Job 36:11, and actually, all the scriptures on finances, wealth, riches, and prosperity is that what we say is vital.  We need to know the importance of the words of our mouth.

Proverbs 18:21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.  I actually like the Message version, “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit–you choose.”

The beginning of your life going the wrong way (or continuing to go the wrong way) is when you say things like, “I’m never going to get a raise” or “My family has cancer in its lineage; therefore, I will probably get cancer.” “I just know I’ll be the first one laid off!” “‘I don’t know why I can’t lose weight!”

I heard of a woman who went to several doctors because she “knew” she had cancer. She argued with doctors who said, “No, you don’t have any symptoms of cancer. We can’t find any.” She would adamantly state that, Yes, she did. She just knew she did. She continued going to doctors.

She eventually died and her relatives asked for a autopsy. They wanted to discover how much cancer was in her body. The report? There was NO cancer in her body. She had talked herself into believing it to the point she died.

That’s an extreme point but valid. You can kill your dreams, relationships, body, life. You can lose jobs, stop raises, not be able to lose weight, miss out of promotions, do badly on the job – any number of things.

Entire generations have passed down being broke and poor – all because of what they believed and what was coming out of their mouths. “Well, we never have any luck in this family! We’ve always been poor.”

Don’t be that person! Ask God to “set a guard on your mouth” – MSG Psalm 141:3 Post a guard at my mouth, GOD, set a watch at the door of my lips. Ask Him to help you “hear” when you say words contrary to the Bible.

The Word always works. No matter what the state of your finances, if you will begin to change your words to match up with God’s Word, things WILL turn around. Research the Bible, find faith-based books, watch videos – find out what God has to say.

You’ll be glad you did!
