I’ve been reading a book by Don Gossett written in 1973 entitled “What You Say is What You Get“. I’ve read many books and booklets by him over the years (Praise Avenue) so he’s an author I trust.
This book is not too long but it is so powerful that if you “get” what it’s saying, you will watch the words you speak for the rest of your life.
Mark 11:23, “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith (says).” This scripture is often quoted from a positive point of view. Believe God for a healing. Believe God for finances, a car you want, a job you need, etc.
But one day God was able to point out to me that the opposite is true. If you believe a doctor’s bad report (You have cancer) and start telling people what the report said instead of what God says, “you shall have whatsoever you say.” This is true of no matter what you believe, positive or negative.
The statement is reciprocal – the opposite is also true.
This is an EASY to read book. The first story of his wife’s sudden healing (yes, based of her words) is worth the price. She spoke the healing scripture (Psalm 27:1), “… the LORD is the strength of my life” when she had no strength. She spoke it enough it became real to her.
God needs you to speak what He says not what the world says. Yes, a doctor may give you a bad report, but it is what YOU say (and agree with) that counts.
I remember a doctor gave me a bad report about my son when he was still a baby. He asked me if this certain disease ran in the family, the bloodline.
It welled up in me and I said immediately “NO”. I wasn’t lying. Josh’s bloodline is through JESUS and there is no disease in Jesus. Josh never experienced that disease.
Proverbs 21:23 (CJB) Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps himself out of trouble.
