… He said, It is finished! … John 19:30a
I was born again at age 12. I had heard or read multiple times in the ensuing years that Jesus said that line above before He died. I never thought about what it might mean. I had heard it preached several times that it meant that “this is it. It’s over. I’m dying now.”. In other words, His life was finished. Moat of the time I didn’t hear anything about it at all. It was just there,
All these years later (no, I’m not going to tell you how many), I started learning from a preacher/teacher* I trust and follow (for years) what that line really means.
Most of us know that when Jesus died on the cross, it was for us. It was for salvation and all the meanings of that word. It was God’s plan to counteract what satan had done by stealing Adam’s authority over earth and taking it for himself.
When Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected, He was given all power and authority over earth. He stripped satan’s power and authority.
Once we take Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are taken out from under the devil’s authority and put under Jesus’. He, in turn, gives us all the power and authority over the devil.
That’s what Jesus finished. He finished taking back everything the devil stole from us. Jesus finished taking back our salvation, Just a few meanings our; authority, health, prosperity, peace, blessings, help, deliverance, welfare. victory, security, wealth, aid, etc. It is finished. It’s already done. It’s ours NOW.
Jesus and came and died to give us John 10:10b (AMPC): I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
Everything Jesus took on Himself (His body) for us – eternal life, the flu or whatever version of Covid is out there now (all sickness and disease), depression, alcoholism, joint pain, arthritis. all lack (physical, financial, material), fear, broken relationships, thinning hair, etc. Jesus already completed if for us, to provide it for us, so it is already ours.
He said “it is finished” when the Works God sent Him to the cross for were completed.
So your stance now is to rest. NO walking the floor crying, no fussing, no freaking out, no begging, no face planting on the carpet sobbing to God, no multiple hours of “I need” prayers, no asking God for something that is already yours. NO!
Your prayer is from the “finished” point of view:
“Father I thank you that I am healed.”
“Father, I know my needs are already met. Thank You! Thank You this bill has already been taken care of.”
“Father, thank You I am already blessed, already forgiven, and already prosperous. Thank You, I already have peace. I am living under the finished works!”
‘Father, I thank You that You’ve given me wisdom. I can study and pass this upcoming test easily!”
It won’t be long (sometimes it’s quickly and sometimes it takes a bit). As you keep confessing the truth, you will begin seeing miraculous changes in your life and circumstances.
