So then, surrender to God. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he WILL turn and run away from you. (TPT, James 4:7)
♥
One translation says “he will run away in stark terror”. But you need to know that he’ll be back. What do you do then? The same thing, Stand and resist by speaking Word to him.
The devil’s job is to find a way to steal from, kill and destroy you. The thing is, there’s nothing new. He only has a limited bag of wiles and tricks – mainly deception. That means he can’t just devour everyone.
He looks for people who won’t resist him because they think he has the right to attack them. They don’t trust God so decided HE LET the devil attack them to teach them something, make them stronger (blech) or other weird reasons. Or they just give in because it’s (whine), “Just too haaaard.”
Or they don’t know the Bible. They don’t stay faith-fueled up by reading their Bible daily. They have weak or no faith. They just listen to, pay attention to him, believe his lies, and decide he’s stronger than God. And SO many more reasons.
Remember he is only going about SEEKING (looking for) whom he MAY devour. (1 Peter 5:8)
The devil gets Alzheimer’s and forgets he’s tried a trick before. You have to remind him (and yourself) over and over that IT’S (whatever it is) NOT YOURS. Don’t accept it. Refuse and resist. “Oh no you don’t, devil! You don’t put that on me! I don’t have it! I’m not going to have it!”
You do have to KNOW it’s not yours by spending time in your Bible and learning that fact to the point you immediately resist.
Sometimes it takes a bit. Just keep it up – keep on speaking the Word. Keep speaking you’re healed (prosperous, etc.). Most importantly, while waiting for manifestation, WORSHIP Him. Thank Him you don’t have what the devil tried to give you.
You have a promise that if you do, the devil’s going to, “run away in terror“* (and take his attack with him).
