God in the Boonies #2

My son came over last weekend and helped me move my living room furniture around (well, he did most of the work). Because I had to move a lot of paperwork, I misplaced my written notes of the Musing. Because I had to restore my computer, for some reason I couldn’t re-install my Word program – which I had backed up the notes onto. Doesn’t it sound like a bunch of excuses? Sorry.

Anyway, This will take another post later this week to get these stories all listed.

The house I bought was REALLY in the boonies, but had a few amenities like a littly Mayberry-type store (Andy Griffith) that also sold gas. It also had a post office. That’s it. A year after I bought it, I married Leland. We had internet… the kind that squealed as it logged in; Dial-Up.  Fun.

One day we got notice that our ISP was going to be working in the area and installing DSL lines. Here’s when the miracle happened. We lived on the “main drag” – a house between us and the store one direction and a house between us and the post office the other. After the post office, a few houses.

We didn’t know it but our “official” address was listed in the major town about 15 miles from our town. We were using one in our town. We also had a post office box mainly for security for important mail. They ran the lines through this tiny town… just to our house. No DSL after our house. That means the house and post office after ours.

Of course we praised and thanked God. Shortly, because of his work schedule and work distance, we began watching church online that our church just began doing. And that is when we asked God that no matter where we lived, we wanted excellent internet service (mainly because of church).

This sets the stage for the rest of the homes we lived in. He answered our prayer so amazingly. All but one were literally in the boonies (that one was outside city limits but not boonies).

You truly have not because you ask not. (James 4:2)
