Do you know God was the first Special Force? Just like the military Army Rangers, Navy’s SEALs, Special Forces, Green Berets, Delta Force, and the like, God is the head of and has covert operations. Don’t believe me? Well, check out Psalm 91 then read the Strong’s translation:
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Here is the Strong’s translation:
He who lives in the covert of the Most High
will abide in the Alstrong’s shade
After looking up all the words to understand the original Hebrew, this is what this scripture is actually saying:
He who sits down (rests) in the hiding place
of the Supreme God, will stay permanently in
the protection and security of Almighty God
In order to REST in that hiding place, you would have to trust that God is really taking care of you. ANY fear in your life will chase out that trust. Fear is the opposite of Faith. Fear is bad ju-ju.
If you are afraid of the dangers around you, if you listen to the world’s news reports, if you believe every bad prediction they speak, then you need to spend more time in the Bible and in prayer. Read faith-based books and listen to faith-based videos, DVDs, MP3s, and CDs until your trust (faith*) in God overcomes your fear of things in the world.
Find good faith-based ministers and listen to their podcasts. My pastor has a saying – since he gives everything away (CDs, DVDs, USBs) and has free downloads on the website – he says, “If it’s free, there are no excuses.” You can’t say, “I didn’t know!”
Your part in Psalms 91 is the first 2 verses – resting, trusting, and saying. “Saying” means you have to hear and believe God’s Word, and receive it for yourself by saying, “That’s mine. Deliverance and protection by God belongs to me!”
When you think of Psalm 91, remember this: the first two verses are what we do and say. Then verses 3 through 16 are God’s answer and total commitment to us.
When we do our part – resting, trusting and saying – God does His part – delivering and preserving (protecting). He even has His own troops – angels – who’s job is to guard you.
In parting, check out this Message translation of Pslams 91:10-13
–Evil can’t get close to you, harm can’t get through the door.
–He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go.
–If you stumble, they’ll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling.
–You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path.
Be bold, be Spirit-led and rest in the Lord, and no matter how dangerous this world becomes trust that God shall surely rescue you and keep you safe.
