A few years ago, Leland joined a cattle association for the breed he was raising at the time. As time went by, he began noticing that every single article he looked up about this breed said the exact same thing.
After I did some research, we discovered several points that were incorrect – and everyone was quoting those points on their own websites.
Almost every website “cut and pasted” their information from other websites. Rather than do their own research, they just copied what everyone else was saying – who copied what someone else said – who copied from the original association website.
Here’s what is sad. A lot of us have allowed ourselves to cut and paste what we know about God and the Bible because ministers we trust and follow have told us some truth about God. Some of that information was incorrect – or at the least, not fully the truth.
Rather than do our own research and studying, we copy what everyone else is saying – who copy what someone else said – who copied from the person who originated the point. Mostly it’s not so much incorrect as incomplete.
Today’s example is Romans 10:9, THE scripture most quoted to get people saved:
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
God prompted me, “Look up the meaning of the word ‘saved’.” So I did – and I realized that as Christians, some of us have been ripped off! There was a lot more to being “saved”.
The word used in Romans, “saved”, is from a primary word… “safe”; to save, that is, deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): – heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.
The day we were “born again, saved, took Jesus as our Saviour” – we got the whole package – healing, safety, deliverance, protection, to do well, and be made whole”. We were supposed to understand that point and to receive everything we need to function VERY WELL in this life the same day we received “going to heaven”.
I didn’t, did you? I had NO idea – until now. Now I’m going to go find out what I’ve been missing! You should, too! Thus far, t’s been amazing.
Outstanding truth!! Thank you for sharing.
I want everything He has for us. I also want no regrets when I stand before Him. Don’t want to miss out on ANYTHING!!
Sooo good, Nan. Open our eyes to see all that He has for me…. now! So I can be and do ALL He needs me to.
Boy did I leave a lot on the table. That means everything we needed to fulfill our assignment has been there in the Kingdom waiting for us to call it out of the Kingdom. The Father gave us everything and it is a gift, meaning I can’t earn it or buy it. That is why He said the only work we were to do was to believe what Grace has made available for us. Already provided.
Great Word!! Thank you for the reminder!
