In the first part of Hinderances to Healing, “You Can Lose Your Healing” I talked about Lack of Faith. There is so much more to that but I will come back to that later.

Hindrance Number 2: False Teaching:

The problem with false teaching is that it can sometimes SOUND right. Sometimes a trusted minister can get off track. Sometimes a teacher can flat out not know what they’re talking about. And sometimes it can sound totally correct until you compare what they said with the scriptures.

There can be seeds of False Teaching that you received in the past that can keep you from receiving healing. Teaching that’s contrary to the Word of God (or lack of good Bible-based teaching) can  allow Satan to steal from you what’s rightfully yours.

People will argue that sickness is God’s will. This sometimes comes because one is sick and they make excuses for it. Since Jesus went about healing all who were sick, was He out of God’s will? No, the Bible teaches that Jesus went about doing the will of his Father (God) (Luke 2:49). 

People believe that pain, sickness and disease will teach patience. Nope. All it does is make you feel horrible. Since the devil is the one who goes around stealing, killing and destroying (John 10:10), God would have to borrow sickness, pain and disease from the devil to give it to us.

People say that sickness will bring you closer to God or that your suffering will bring glory to God. I don’t think so. If that were true, all sick people would be closer to God and run around praising Him because He gets glory from suffering.

People spent more time talking about being sick than they do praising God because they’re puking up their guts out. Sickness and disease are not proof you’re closer to God or giving Him glory. They are proof you need to get into your Bible and learn how God feels about sickness and disease. 

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down imaginations (thoughts), and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;.”

“High thing” is something elevating itself above God’s Word. Words for “cast down” are: destroy, demolish, tear down, pull down, smashing, breaking… you get the point? Get rid of all false teaching. Ask God to show you any errors in the way you think about healing. He will!
