Potty Mouth and God

I was going to do Part 2 on God in the Boonies but realized this was more important because it just happened. Yes, I will do a Part 2, I promise.

When I was growing up, having a Potty Mouth meant cursing (remember this statement).

I just learned something about how the devil can sneakily operate and you don’t even realize it. He can get you to say something that sounds good or right but it is not scriptural.

The Word podcast I heard was talking about the attacks of the enemy. The guy’s point was First Corinthians 10:13 (paraphrase), “There is no test or trial that’s more powerful than anyone elses. They are all common to man. There is not one that God can’t deliver you from. He always provides a way out.

I had been in a car accident years ago and hurt both knees. I began having trouble with one of my knees since the beginning of the year. I blamed it on the accident even though it had been years and I had not had any problems at all for years.

It had been getting worse and worse. The knee started swelling, hurting, wouldn’t bend right. The knee went out (literally) once where Josh (son) had to come help.

I told Josh (son) that the trouble was self induced (my fault). I also thought it all the time. I also told Josh it was because I didn’t eat right foods or because I didn’t exercise faithfully for a while there or I didn’t walk outside like I was supposed to or I sat too long at the computer.

Sounded reasonable. Made perfectly good sense. I once stupidly said (and thought a lot) that it wasn’t even the devil’s fault, it was my own fault.

That should have been a red-flag right there. I don’t talk stupid. I even wondered why my healing was taking so long. What was I doing wrong that it wouldn’t manifest? At the time “being my fault” sounded reasonable. I forgot the devil comes after your faith. He comes after the Word of God in you. He comes after the words of your mouth.

FINALLY, God was able to get it across to me that by saying something was self-induced, I was helping the problem stay and continue. I opened the door to the devil to operate in my life by forgetting what God says.

God could not make a way out for me because I was taking the credit. I was actually giving the devil permission to continue causing knee problems. I was stopping God from providing a way out.

The devil can only operate in our lives if we give him permission to. He’s been defeated, we’ve been redeemed. He can only talk, only talk empty threats.

BUT empty threats can cause you all sorts of problems if you believe them. That’s why we are supposed to believe the Word of God. We belong to God not the devil.

You better believe I repented immediately. I used the Word of God and the name of Jesus (and His Blood) to kick the devil out. I asked God for restoration and healing. And glory to God, by the next morning, I could tell a difference. My knee gets better and better every day.

Remember the statement I asked you to remember? Well, ALL sickness and disease is under the curse. They are curses.

Jesus defeated the devil (author of sickness and disease) so we are no longer under the curse of the law. Confessing what I said put me back under the curse. By what I was confessing, I was “cursing”.

Saying anything that does not line up with God’s Word, God calls having a Potty Mouth. You’re cursing. (Hey! Don’t blame me, HE said it!)
