How to Prosper and Flourish

Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight (consider it a valuable thing) is in the law (scriptures, statute, precept) of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Verse 3 in The Passion Translation – He will be standing firm like a flourishing tree planted by God’s design, deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss, bearing fruit in every season of his life. He is never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous.

Do you want to prosper, be in health, age well? First off, do NOT do things the world’s way. Don’t follow or listen to their counsel. If you hear anything contrary to God’s Word, always ask, “What Chapter and Verse is that from (in the Bible)?”

Most won’t have the correct answer. They quote things because they’ve heard it all their lives. Grammy told them it was so. Generations of family members believed it. Most can’t tell you Chapter and Verse (i.e., where they got the incorrect information from) because it is NOT in the Bible.

NEVER take anything anyone tells you as Gospel. Find it in the Bible. Always know. If it’s not in the Bible then it is NOT from God. If it’s NOT from God, it is a LIE. And who is the father of all lies? Satan. Do not believe it.

That’s why Verse 2 is so important – READ YOUR BIBLE. Pay attention to God’s Word – your Bible. “Attend to it” by meditating (thinking) about what you read. Study it.

Most importantly of all – BELIEVE what you read. DO what you read.  Hearken!

Hearken means – to hear and obey, to hear intelligently, pay attention, obedience.

You can’t lose if you will put God’s Word first place in your life. You can’t lose if you hear (pay attention to) and obey that Word. You can’t lose if you choose to believe what the Bible says about a situation rather than what the world says.

You have so many promises about prospering, being blessed and living a good life simply by putting God’s Word first place!
