LIDT: Run for Your Life!

James 3:16  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion (instability, disorder, insurrection) and every evil work (foul deed, evil matter).

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I (Jesus) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! Seriously, run as far away from strife (brawling, fighting, contention, quarreling) as you can get. It will destroy you.

There are many scriptures about strife, what it causes, how dangerous it is, who the father of it is, and why we need to avoid it.  Strife destroys. Strife is the opposite of Love (a faith requirement). More importantly, GOD HATES IT.

Proverbs 6:16-19 lists 7 things God hates.  The seventh one is: “… one who spreads strife among brothers” (NASB).  Uh oh! Right there is a great reason to avoid strife – I do NOT want God to hate me. I can’t even imagine that.

When you are in strife, our head scripture says there is every evil work, disorder, insurrection. These are all words that fit into the devil’s half of John 10:10 (TPT)  “(a) A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy.”

I want to stay in the (b) part: “But I (Jesus) have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow!”

Obviously if we are in strife, we aren’t walking with Jesus at that time. Everything strife causes is in the (a) part of John 10:10. You are in the devil’s playground.  You are OUT from under God’s protection. You are away from the (b) part – life abundantly.

Living in the times we do, we can NOT afford to be out from under our Psalm 91 protection. We need to run from John 10:10 (a) so that we can have the life promised in John 10:10 (b)!

  1. I’m reminded of the old hymn “He Hideth My Soul.” It says, “He hideth my soul in the depths of His love, and covers me there with His hand.” There’s no where else that could be safer! That’s where I want to be! I’m running from (a)!
