No Cursing

talking curses Let no corrupt (rotten) communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying (building up), that it may minister grace (benefit) unto the hearers.  Ephesians 4:29

Many times the above scripture is used to say we shouldn’t use curse words (or to cuss).  While it is true that we shouldn’t use what we commonly call curse words – dam*, shi*, etc., there is something far more important than that.

When you speak contrary to what God says, you are cursing. When you speak the opposite, you are opening yourself up to the curse that is in the land. You open the door to the devil. It’s almost an invitation to him.

When you don’t speak “life” you are speaking “death”. The scripture bears this out in:

Deuteronomy 30:19  “I call Heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore, choose life, that you may live, you and your seed” then in:

Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat its fruit”

One, God says YOU choose life, and two, the Bible states that choosing life is in YOUR mouth.

So what do I mean by cursing? Well, if you don’t feel good and you begin to confess, “I feel sick. I must be coming down with the flu and I am going to be so sick” – you are cursing your health and healing. God states that you are healed in many scriptures.

If you say that God doesn’t want you to be wealthy, you are cursing your finances because God takes pleasure in your prosperity (Psalm 35:27). There are many other positive financial scriptures.

Any time you speak opposite what God says then you are cursing. You are not blessing. You are not speaking life, you are speaking death.

Do our words matter? Much more than people believe and know. And when we speak, we hear ourselves speaking. Our words benefit us, too, not just others.

CHOOSE AND SPEAK LIFE.
